Never Stop Learning
One of the benefits of working and playing on the road is that there are no chores, gardening, animal care or family visits (as much as I miss them and love them) to distract from creating. I have given a lot of time to working on my jewelry. I have learned so much, about my wire wrapping and about myself. While honing my craft and growing in my design skills, I have a lot of new pieces and I am going home pleased to be increasing and expanding my inventory. With the price of silver skyrocketing in the last year, one has to double down or get out of the game. I have decided to go for it, because I love my craft and making my jewelry doesn’t fail to put a smile on my face. It is my therapy.
Being able to shop at one of the largest city wide gem show sales in the country gave me access to unique and hard to find stones. Vendors come from all over the world as well as all over the . The quality and selection is beyond belief. Yes, so are many of the prices, for my type of business. Inspiration, however, is free and there was so very very much of it.
WIP: Mexican Fire Opal, wrapped in pure copper. Will be sanded, oxidized, and polished when I get home.
WIP: Golden Obsidian. I am a fan of “less is more.” I like this design. I will use it again. Still requires sanding, oxidizing, and polishing when I get home.
WIP: I have been wanting to try this kind of frame for awhile. I did 3 variations and I doubt I am through. It is much more work than it looks to be. I will keep at it. Not yet finished. More work to do when I get home. This is a ruby zoisite stone
WIP: I have been playing with some “doubles.” I like this one. It is a combination of tiger’s eye and turquoise. It will be great to see it oxidized and polished.
